Easy Way to Address Upper Back Pain

Writer's picture: Katie PeasleeKatie Peaslee

Anybody else ever feel like they have some gnarly knots along your shoulder blades?

Let me show you guys my 3 favorite ways to work out those knots! In this video, I'm using a GAIAM Restore Hot & Cold Therapy Kit, but you can also use a tennis or a lacrosse ball at home.

1. After placing the ball between your upper back and a wall, lean back into the wall to apply pressure to those knots & muscles. You can move the ball up and down, side-to-side to explore different knots and work those muscles.

2. Once you find a good spot, to deepen the stretch, you can reach your arm across your body to the opposite shoulder. This gets a deeper stretch on your rhomboids.

3. Lastly, if you want to further enhance the stretch, you can bring your chin down towards your opposite armpit. (Mimic the motion like you're smelling your armpit!). For each of these you can hold for 10-15 seconds.

Then you can move the ball around again, find a different spot and repeat. Hope you guys enjoy!!
